Dr John Ambler
Dr. John Ambler
Subspecialist in Diseases and Surgery of the Vitreous, Retina and Macula as well as General Ophthalmologist.
After graduating with honours from Sydney University, Dr Ambler was awarded the Cedric Cohen Medal for Excellence at the Part 1 Examination of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. He completed his ophthalmic training at the Sydney Eye Hospital in 1986.
Following post-specialist training in vitreoretinal disease at the Lions Eye Institute in Perth, he undertook two further years of dedicated vitreoretinal sub-speciality training at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, USA. Dr Ambler has published papers on various aspects of retinal disease, especially retinal detachment and has served as Senior Lecturer in Ophthalmology at the University of Queensland. He has been in private practice in Queensland for 27 years.
Dr Ambler is a Designated Aviation Ophthalmologist (DAO) for the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. He operates at the Queensland Eye Hospital in Brisbane and Kawana Private Hospital at the Sunshine Coast.
